SUSTAINABILITY OF PUBLIC MYTH

ACTIVELY MAKING AN IMPACT

Sustainability isn't a finished state — it's an ongoing set of decisions about what we make things from, who makes them, and what happens to them after. Here's a specific look at how that plays out at Public Myth.

Minimal impact

100%

of our pieces made from sustainable fabric

100%

ethical manufacturing

100%

of our packaging is recyclable

100% NATURAL MATERIALS

We build our swimwear and activewear from natural and low-impact fibers instead of relying on conventional synthetics like virgin nylon or polyester:

  • Merino wool — a renewable, biodegradable fiber that's naturally odor-resistant and quick-drying.
  • Tencel™ lyocell — made from sustainably sourced wood pulp through a closed-loop process.
  • Bamboo, organic cotton, and linen — lower-input natural fibers blended for softness and breathability.

These fabrics are processed in closed-loop systems, which reduce the chemicals and water used in production, and our fabrics are certified to the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100.  — independently tested and verified free from harmful substances. Our organic cottons are either certified by GOTS or Ecocert Greenlife

MINIMAL WASTE & PRODUCTION

We produce in small batches, which limits overproduction and excess inventory compared to standard bulk manufacturing. Fabric scraps and offcuts aren't discarded — we repurpose them into smaller accessories like hair scrunchies and headbands. While don't currently have any recycling program for end-of-life garments it is something we are building toward and hope toinclude in the future.

PLANET FIRST PACKAGING & SHIPPING

Our packaging is 100% plastic-free. We use recyclable materials — locally made boxes and mailers from recycled content — and avoid unnecessary double packaging. Because packaging is kept minimal, garments may arrive with light creases or folds, which come out with a quick wash or iron; we consider that a reasonable tradeoff for less packaging waste.

ETHICAL MANUFACTURING

Our clothing is made in-house at our headquarters in Vancouver, BC or by partners just a few blocks away — not outsourced to overseas facilities we don't have direct visibility into. Because production happens at our own facility, we oversee working conditions and pay directly rather than relying on third-party audits.

WHERE WE'RE STILL WORKING

The manufacturing process can always be better so we are constantly looking for new ideas and innovations to help us improve and make us more sustainable and to create less impact on the this beautiful planet.
